Power- This is the ability to use strength at speed effectively. The test for power is the sargent jump, which is also known as the standing broad jump. To completet this test you must stand side on to a wall and reach up as high as possible, move the marker to this point. This is known as the standing reach height. Then leap as high as possible and touch the wall as high up as you can and record this score. The advantages of this test is that it is very quick and simple to carry out. The disadvantages of the sargent jump are that specific facilities are required and that an assistant is required to invigilate and record results. An alternative test for power is the standing long jump. This is performed by standing behind a line and then jumping as far forward as possible without a run up. The further you go the higher you score for power.
